Cong-BJP war in UP rages again
Published on:

The Congress and the BJP on Friday locked horns in Uttar Pradesh, which will have polling for 33 lok Sabha seats in the next two phases. Campaigning for Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, Priyanka alleged indirectly that the BJP was dumping slanderous booklets and pamphlets against his brother and mother Sonia Gandhi in the middle of the night at people’s doorsteps in the constituency and dared the party to do it openly.

In Khalilabad, Narendra Modi mocked at Sonia for her recent invocation of God to  save the country from the “Modi model”. He said it showed how big a problem Sonia is facing as he had never heard her invoking the God in her speeches in the last 20-25 years.

Vadra alleged that the people who distributed booklets — ‘Rahul Ki Ravan leela’ and ‘Sonia, barbarta aur sazish’ — among the people in Amethi are cowards.

These charges and counter charges will intensify electioneering in Uttar Pradesh, which will have polling for 33 lok Sabha seats in the next two phases.

Addressing a rally in Khalilabad in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Modi on Friday said that the way Sonia invoked God in her speech shows she is facing real problem as she had never before referred to God in her speech.

He even said that the indications were clear that the Maa-Beta Government is going.

“The wickets of Congress are falling. I have never heard Sonia Gandhi invoking God earlier in the last 20-25 years. You can think what kind trouble faces the Congress... The maa-beta Government is not coming back, it is going,” he said.

Concurrent to this, around 250 south-west in Amethi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said the people, who were distributing objectionable booklets regarding her family are ‘cowards’ and should come before the public.

“Some mischievous people are distributing booklets containing objectionable matter on my mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul during the night to mislead the people,” Vadra said while addressing an election meeting in Shahgarh market in Amethi.

“I challenge such ‘cowards’ to come and face me,” she said.

Expression concern on the ‘type of politics’, she said that the level of politics has gone down and some leaders only want to occupy position and power. They are not interested in solving the problems of the people, she said.
