Confusion over Cycle, Hand in lucknow seats

Confusion ran high both among the Congress as well as Samajwadi Party workers over alliance as both the Parties allocated symbol on two of the Assembly seats of the State Capital. Interestingly, the Congress allotted symbols to two of their candidates for Mohanlalganj reserved constituency and now fate of the duo will be decided during scrutiny on Wednesday.

“We got three Assembly seats in lucknow as part of our alliance with the Samajwadi Party but except for one lucknow (east) seat where a SP leader is contesting on Congress symbol, confusion galore on the other two seats”, claimed a senior Congress leader who also remained minister in the 80s. “It is still not clear whether the Congress will contest alone on the lucknow (Central) and Mohanlalganj reserved seats or the SP candidates, who had already filed their nominations will go ahead to fight on ‘cycle’ symbol or will withdraw their candidature in favour of our Party’s nominee”, added the leader saying that all such move of both Congress and SP had resulted into confusion in the minds of workers.

Further raising doubts over the SP’s honesty over `Alliance’ the leader said that Ravi Das Malhotra had filed his candidature on lucknow Central ticket just on Monday but suddenly in the mid-night, AICC general secretary Gulam Nabi Azad called Maroof Khan, and appraised him that SP left the seat in Congress favour and also gave Mohanlalganj reserved seat to Congress. Besides, he also informed that SP leader Anurag Bhadhuria will contest on Congress symbol on lucknow East seat.

However, according to leader, before Congress could file nomination on Mohanlalganj seat, SP leader Ambrish Singh Pushkar, reached collectorate and that too with the authority letter of the party and filed his nominations which created confusion on Congress leaders.
