In a major political development, an RTI activist has filed a complaint with lokayukta alleging Yatindra Siddaramaiah, son of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has amassed wealth after his father became the CM and has also made investment during his recent visit to Dubai and other countries. In his complaint, the RTI activist has appealed for a full investigation.
However, the CM rejected the charges and said it was a political vendetta and conspiracy. He also said it was far from truth. He said in Mysuru that his son visited abroad for the first time and questioned how can a person visiting for the first time make investment in that country. “Yetindra had accompanied me during my recent foreign tour and this is for the first time he visited a foreign country,” he added.
On senior Congress leader H Vishwanath’s probable political move to desert Congress, Siddaramaiah said the veteran leader has not discussed anything regarding his political move. “I am not commenting on Vishwanath and it is the party high command who will decide whether my silence is right or wrong. Vishwanath has all the freedom to decide on his next political move,” he added.
Meanwhile, the BJP was quick to attack Siddaramaiah and accused his son of engaging in corrupt activities. BJP State president BS Yeddyurappa alleged that Yatindra was involved in corruption.
He said though Yatindra keeps denying it, a benami firm run by him is being paid by the tax-payers’ money, the BJP leader alleged.
“Yatindra is the head of a medical diagnostics centre near Bowring Hospital. He is signing its documents and cheques but denies ownership of the firm. This centre keeps getting significant amount of money from the State Government. We have all related documents of this irregularity,” he alleged.
Yeddyurappa said he would wait for the CM’s reply and then produce documents to back his allegations.
Ahead of assembly polls which is crucial for both the ruling congress and the BJP are getting in to nerves to fight against each other.
