Common man's economic security at risk: Mamata

Published on:

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has fired fresh salvos at the Narendra Modi Government for its “faulty economic policies” which had jeopardised the lives of the common people.

Speaking on the recent ATM frauds that had left hundreds of bank customers robbed of lakhs of rupees, the Chief Minister targeted demonetization saying the exercise had put at risk the economic security of the common man.

“In a country where large numbers of people live in poverty, in a country where many remote areas have no bank branches, the Centre has introduced plastic economy,” she said adding this “faulty measure” had “taken away the economic security of the common man.”

An ATM fraud had hit the people of Bengal and neighbouring States with alleged Romanian and Nigerian gangs masterminding a smooth operation by fixing scheming machines to clone debit and credit cards and then robbing the people of lakhs or rupees.
