Collect VIPs' abroad travel plans, MHA tells top cops

Published on:

Noting the non-compliance of the order of security agencies by several VIPs, Union Home Ministry has issued directions to police chiefs to ensure that VIPs submit abroad travel plans to police.

Following the MHA directive, Delhi Police on September 12, sent letters to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, Manmohan Singh's two son-in-laws Vijay Tabkha and Ashok Patnaik, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee's son-in-law Ranjan Bhattacharya to submit the details whenever they travel abroad.

According to the new directives, the VIPs will have to inform the police about their purpose of travel, stay and accommodation details, address of the host and request for security cover well in advance.  Similar letters were also sent to Tankha's two sons, Raghav and Madhav, Patnaik's son Rohan and Bhattacharya's daughter Niharika.
