What prevents private investors to invest in Uttar PradeshIJ It is the “sweetener”. That’s what Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said saying PPP model is not working in Uttar Pradesh because his Government was not adding sweetener to the proposals.
“I have now asked officials to add more sweetener in the proposals. last BSP Government has spoiled private companies by giving sweetener. The companies are still carrying sweet teeth with them,” Yadav said while addressing a Press conference after inaugurating radio taxi project in the State capital here on Friday.
Yadav, however, did not elaborate as what exactly he meant by sweetener. Whether it was bribe or the incentives. “No company showed interest in Agra-lucknow Expressway only because we failed to add sweetener in that proposal,” Yadav said and added: “Due to lack of sweetener even banks are not ready to give loans and the companies not ready to invest.
When asked about the on-going deadlock over cane price, he said Government is working on this. “Government will maintain a balance between the industry and the cane farmers. We have to see that the mills start crushing session and the farmers get cane price at the earliest,” he said while adding that talks with sugar mill owners would be held soon to resolve the issue.
Hitting out at BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi, he said UP has always produced Prime Ministers and Gujarat businessmen. “Modi is a TV created personality. One should remember that those created by TV are destroyed by TV,” he said. Yadav said when his Government announced distribution of laptops his decision was criticised but now most of the political parties during the ongoing Assembly elections in five States have announced distribution of laptops in their manifesto.
“All political parties have admitted now that laptops are necessary for the students,” he said. When his attention was drawn towards willingness shown by Swami Omji of Shobhan Sarkar ashram in Dondia Khera village in Unnao to start digging the CM said he will ask Chief Secretary to look after the matter.
