Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday, October 30, confirmed that Danam Nagender will be the Congress party’s candidate in the Khairatabad Assembly by-election, ending speculation over who would contest the seat.

The nomination remains subject to the outcome of a case pending before the Telangana High Court. The court has not yet delivered its verdict on a petition filed by P. Vijaya Reddy, a corporator from Khairatabad. The ruling could affect both Nagender’s candidature and the prospects of the by-election itself.

Reddy made the announcement during an informal interaction with reporters in Delhi. He did not say when the by-election would be held.

Asked about the contest, the chief minister said he treats every election with the same weight, whether large or small. “I take every election seriously,” he said, adding that he would not have reached his current position had he approached elections casually.

His remarks indicate that Congress intends to field Nagender in the constituency.
