Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke will be produced before a Delhi court on Saturday, a day after he was detained by Delhi Police while on his way to participate in the ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ yatra.

Delhi Police said Dipke was detained under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which deal with preventive measures to maintain peace and prevent possible offences.

His detention came amid protests in Delhi linked to the ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ campaign, which has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over concerns surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Opposition parties and protest groups have raised concerns that the revision could lead to eligible voters being excluded from electoral rolls. The Election Commission has maintained that the exercise is intended to update voter lists.
