Ranchi: With Chhath Puja approaching, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has stepped up preparations to ensure proper sanitation, safety and other arrangements at ponds and Chhath ghats across the city.

The municipal commissioner has directed officials and staff concerned to complete all preparations within the stipulated timeframe, making it clear that no shortcomings in facilities for devotees and Chhath observers will be tolerated during the festival.

The civic body has been instructed to ensure thorough cleaning of all ponds and ghats, along with the surrounding areas. Regular sanitation must be maintained to provide devotees with a clean environment during the festival, when thousands of people visit water bodies to offer prayers.

Safety measures have also been prioritised, particularly at ponds and ghats where the water is deep. The Municipal Commissioner has directed officials to mark such locations clearly with red ribbons and install warning signboards to alert devotees to potential hazards and reduce the risk of accidents.

The civic body has also ordered the repair of damaged street lights around ponds and Chhath ghats to ensure safe movement of devotees, particularly during early morning and evening rituals. Officials have been asked to monitor the progress of the work and ensure that sanitation and other arrangements remain in place throughout the festival.

The municipal administration is carrying out the preparations with the aim of providing devotees with clean surroundings, safe access to ghats and adequate facilities for the observance of Chhath Puja.

The commissioner has instructed the officials concerned to treat the work as a priority and complete all arrangements on time to prevent inconvenience to devotees during the festival.
