Taking in consideration the requirements of higher education, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has introduced major changes by dividing the board exams into two parts from next year.
These changes will be applicable only in the XIIth Board examination but there will not be any change in the Board examination for Xth Standard.
Considering the requirements of many Universities, the Board has also decided to change the marking pattern in both written and practical segment of Computer Science, Fashion Designing, Physical Education, Indian Classical Music (Hindustani), Indian Classical Music (Carnatic style) and Western Music. The marking scheme of 50 marks for theory and 50 for practical will be replaced with the scheme of 70 marks for theory and 30 for practical.
Giving a major relief to the students, the Board has also decided to give 3 hours of duration for theory and for practical separately. With around 2018 schools affiliated to this board, the change is set to bring a direct implication on 40 schools in Haryana.
The board, in this regard, has asked all the Principals to inform the candidates sitting for the class XII year 2016 examinations, parents and all others concerned of these changes.
While talking about these changes, the Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of CISCE Gerry Arathoon said, “Taking into consideration the requirements of the Universities and that of the children these changes have been introduced. Every concerned school has been informed through circulars issued by the board and they have been assigned the task to inform students and parents.”
