The devotees of Chhath puja offering prayers to Sun God on the Yamuna Banks in IP Estate were in for a rude shock when a large eight-foot-long Python seemed to join them in their prayers on Thursday morning. As panic spread, the Delhi police contacted NGO Wildlife SOS, which works for protection of wild animals, at 7 am informing them about the large Python at the ritual site.
The NGO's rescue team, which rushed to the site where the snake was sighted, observed that the python had sustained some injuries which could have been caused due to stoning by onlookers.
