A court in Hyderabad on Monday found Telugu film actress and State BJP spokesperson Jeevitha, guilty in a cheque bouncing case and sentenced her to two years imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of `25 lakhs on her.
However, on a petition of her counsel, the court granted her bail to enable her to file an appeal against the sentence.
The case dates back to 2007 when she was a film producer and had borrowed money from one Sama Shekhar Reddy. She promised to repay the loan and also to give him the rights of a Telugu movie she was producing.
However, after many false promises and bouncing of cheques issued by her, Sama Shekhar Reddy approached a city court in January this year.
