INlD chief Om Prakash Chautala could soon be in a Haryana Jail instead of Tihar Jail in New Delhi.
The Home department of Haryana has forwarded the letter written by Tihar authorities for the transfer of Chautala, his son Ajay and 53 other convicts in the JBT teachers’ recruitment scam, from Tihar to any jail in Haryana to the DGP Prisons, Haryana for consent.
A few days back, Tihar authorities said the jail had a large number of prisoners, almost twice its capacity and had recommended the Delhi Government to transfer 60 prisoners, including Chautala and his son Ajay to the State where the crime was committed.
Based on the recommendation, the Delhi Government’s Home Department had written to the Home Secretary of Haryana and for transfer of these prisoners to jails in their respective States. The Tihar jail authorities had taken suo motto cognizance as of the fact that relatives of some of these prisoners had to travel long distances to meet them in the jail.
Haryana Government sources on Thursday said that the State home department has forwarded the request of Delhi Government’s home department to the DGP Prisons Haryana on March 19 for their consent.
