Even as the Opposition campaign demanding Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s resignation over the solar scam is raging across Kerala, his Home Minister, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, is facing the charge of having close links with actress Shalu Menon who is said to have connections with fraudster Biju Radhakrishnan, prime accused in the case.
Hours after Government Chief Whip PC George stated that Thiruvanchoor would have to own the responsibility if the police were not arresting the actress, the Minister admitted on Monday that he had attended Shalu’s housewarming ceremony but claimed that he had gone there by chance and that he had no other connections with her.
Allegations about Shalu Menon’s links with Biju Radhakrishnan had come up immediately after his ex-wife and Saritha S Nair, the con woman in the solar power scam, was arrested on June 3. It has also been alleged that the police were not acting against the actress because of her connections with the Home Minister.
