Even as Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau is gearing up to summon Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for questioning in last year’s cash-for-vote scam, Naidu on Thursday knocked on the door of the Hyderabad High Court seeking quashing of an order of the ACB court.
The court has ordered a re-investigation of the case in which Naidu was one of the accused and charged with offering bribe to a Telangana legislator to support the TDP in legislative Council elections.
The ACB court had issued the orders for re-investigation of the case on a petition filed by YSR Congress Party MlA Ramakrishna Reddy, alleging that the ACB is going slow in the matter. Ruling that the case is maintainable, the court had ordered the ACB to question Chandrababu Naidu.
The High Court admitted Naidu’s lunch Motion and it will come up for hearing on Friday.
later, he held a teleconference with TDP MlAs, MlCs and constituencies in-charges and alleged that the YSRCP MlAs were trying to rake up unnecessary controversies and issues to distract attention from the agenda of development of the State. “It was incomprehensible act of the YSRCP MlA to go to the ACB court when the High Court had already ruled that the case was not maintable”.
ButHowever, YSRCP MlA Ramakrishna Reddy said that the way Naidu rushed to the High Court to get the case quashed shows his panic.
Chandrababu Naidu moved his Motion on Thursday after the ACB informed the lower court that there was no need for a fresh FIR. In a memo filed before the court the ACB informed that it had already registered the FIR and the matter was under investigation. It told the court that it would file the details of the investigation before the court by September 29. Telangana Telugu Desam MlA Revanth Reddy was the prime accused in the case as the ACB had caught him red-handed when he was giving the bribe money to nominated MlA of Telangana Stephan.
The ACB claimed that it had records of the conversation between Revanth Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu.
While the forensic examination of Revanth Reddy’s voice samples established that the voice indeed belonged to him, the agency had not collected or tested the voice samples of Chandrababu Naidu so far.
