Reiterating his demand to be called before the JPC, former telecom minister A Raja on Wednesday accused panel chairman PC Chacko of “denial of natural justice”.
In a letter to Chacko, Raja made a scathing attack on Chacko’s bid to close the deliberations in JPC by sacrificing the truth and demanded that no probe was complete if his versions were not heard.
“It would appear that the JPC has already reached a conclusion on this issue without even hearing my evidence. I would call upon you to proceed with an open mind, in the interest of a fair enquiry and not reach any premature conclusions… I understand that the Committee is anxious to complete its deliberations, this can not be at the cost of sacrificing the truth,” said Raja in his two-page letter, rejecting Chacko’s offer to accommodate his written statement.
He also attacked Attorney General GE Vahavati for placing “misleading and wrong facts” before the JPC. Raja claimed that, if he got a chance, he would demolish the arguments of Vahanvati.
Raja reiterated all decisions were taken after consultations with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Ministry of Finance and the versions that he ignored them were not at all correct. “I am confident that if given an opportunity to appear before the JPC, I will establish that these allegations are misconceived and that all decisions were taken collectively by the DoT with the express or tacit consent of other senior functionaries of the Government,” Raja said.
