C'garh IAS officer to sit on dharna in Darbhanga

Published on:

Surprising it seems, but an IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre has decided to sit on a dharna in front of the office of Darbhanga SP for what he called the failure of the Darbhanga Police to recover the ornaments of his wife stolen during a bus travel three months back.

The 2013 batch IAS Ajit Vasant said he along with his wife Rupal Thakur would sit on a dharna on January 20. But before that he would seek the permission from the Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary.

Posted as Sub Divisional Magistrate of Rajnandgaon, Vasant said he and his wife, who is an intern in Darbhanga Medical College & Hospital, were traveling from Andhrathari in Madhubani to Darbhanga on October 23 on a bus of Neerja Travels during which ornaments were stolen from their suitcase. The matter was reported to Darbhanga University police station. The police failed to recover the stolen good, he complained.

Darbhanga SSP Ajit Kumar Satyarthi confirmed the theft case but feigned ignorance about the IAS officer’s dharna agitation. He said the suitcase was kept on the roof of the bus when the incident happened and added that police was trying to recover the ornaments.
