The Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR) jointly with the Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI) would start 'Single Window System' in the city soon, informed CFAR Project Manager Rajalaxmi Mohanty at a Press meet here on Friday.

The Single Window System would bring the marginalised people and the Government departments together to be familiar with the development schemes and programmes.

The CFAR is working with the marginalised and disadvantaged women from the urban poor settlements with the objective of enhancing their access to key social security schemes.

As part of the project, a baseline study was conducted to assess the extent and quality of access of the marginalised people to key welfare schemes, programmes and entitlements such as NFSA, voter card, Aaadhar card, skill and livelihood development, pension, etc, Mohanty said.

Giving a case study she also said during the survey, the CFAR members found one deprived single widow aged about 80 in the Horizan Sahi under Ward Number 52. The old woman was also physically disabled.

"With the six-month project of 'Single Window System' by the APPI, we were able to give her ration card, Aadhar and old age pension," she added.

CFAR project coordinator Sameer Ranjan Das said in the Single Window, both the needy people and the service providers of the concerned departments can meet. The Basti people would not have to go different offices for different schemes like Aadhar card, voter card and ration card etc, he added. The Single Window would be inaugurated by Khordha district Collector Niranjan Sahu at the Saubhagya Nagar here soon.

Giving welcome address, Mamata Singh of the CFAR said the Single Window would work closely with Government Departments for administering the schemes to the eligible beneficiaries from marginal communities like construction workers, domestic workers, sweepers, manual scavengers and sanitation workers.

The members of Mahila Arogya Samithis (MAS) and Self Help Groups (SHG) would be capacitated and educated on various Government schemes, she added.

Enrolment camps for the schemes like Aadhar and many more schemes would be organised at the Window, Singh said.

Women representatives of different Basties were present on the occasion.
