Centre surrendered to US pressure: CPI

The CPI on Thursday condemned the Centre’s decision to enter Defence agreement with USA to provide Indian soil for the military purpose of America. In a statement, the central secretariat of the party said the Modi-led Government should have taken approval of Parliament for this controversial deal with USA.

“The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India condemns the NDA Governments announcement for logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement with USA which will allow the US Armed Forces to be stationed on Indian soil in the name of repairing and maintenance facilities for American ships and aero planes.

“While the people of Japan, Philippines, Cuba and other countries are fighting to remove the American bases from their soil, Government of India is providing such a facility to USA, though in the name of “Maintenance facility” is very dangerous. India should not become a “Strategic partner” of USA in its International Military plan to play the role of “World Police”. Undoubtedly it is a surrender of Modi Government to U.S. pressure,” said CPI. Urging other parties to unite against this controversial agreement, CPI said the Modi Government is entering more “dangerous” agreements in future.
