A major coordination meeting of RSS and its affiliates, which would take place here from September 2 and see the participation of senior BJP leaders and Ministers, may take up issues like the recent Census report and One Rank, One Pension (OROP) during its three-day sitting.
As already reported by The Pioneer on August 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the meeting which may discuss evolving “a new mechanism” to facilitate better coordination and remove “bottlenecks, if any”, between the RSS and the Government. The meet may particularly focus on ensuring harmony between ‘Paryavaran’ and development, according to sources.
According to RSS chief spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya, 93 main functionaries of the Hindutva organisation and its 15 affiliates will “exchange notes” over relevant issues during the coordination meeting. Among the 93 high-level functionaries participating, 25 will be from the RSS and the rest from its affiliates.
“This meeting is not meant to review the government’s work or take a decision. Nor will it be at the centre of our discussion. But yes we will get all kinds of inputs and discuss that,” Vaidya said while addressing a press conference here.
The participation in the meeting, which takes place twice a year, will be almost double than usual this time, Vaidya said.
“The meeting is bigger. It is happening as lot many things are happening in our society and there will be wider inputs from everybody,” he said.
About Modi’s participation, he said the Prime Minister will attend the event according to his convenience. RSS head Mohan Bhagwat besides a host of Ministers will attend the exercise.
Quizzed if census figures will be discussed, he said it may happen and a discussion on the OROP issue can also take place if inputs were made.
Vaidya added that the Government had already made an announcement of accepting OROP demand and now working out its modalities.
