After a brief lull on the line of control Pakistan Army late Monday evening violated ceasefire agreement by resorting to ‘unprovoked’ firing in Sunderbani sector of frontier Rajouri district.
The firing in the area was first reported around 6.05 p.m and was going on till the time of filing the report.
In response to the indiscriminate firing Indian Army too retaliated strongly using similar calibre of weapons.
Defence PRO in Jammu said, “Pakistan Army initiated indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars at 1805 hours on Indian Army posts along the line of Control in Sunderbani Sector”.
The Army posts are retaliating strongly and effectively. The firing is presently on, Defence PRO said in a written statement.
Pak Army may have resorted to this indiscriminate firing to divert the attention of the Indian troops while pushing small groups of infiltrators inside the Indian territory. Intelligence agencies have been regularly warning spike in infiltration bids in the coming days as movement of trained militants have been spotted along the launching pads close to the line of control and International border with Pakistan.
