In its apparent bid to promote Khadi internationally, the CBI presented handcrafted silk ties and stoles to more than 400 participants from across the globe who attended the recently concluded Sixth Global Focal Point Conference on Asset Recovery here.

The CBI placed the order for supply of these items to Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC),which is the nodal agency to promote Khadi at the national level.

“As many as 350 Silk Ties and colorful Silk Stoles were supplied by the KVIC in a record time of 7 days in an attractive packing, as approved by the CBI officials,” said KVIC in a statement.

The Khadi silk ties and stoles gifted by the CBI to the participants of the Conference were handspun and hand-woven and were highly appreciated by the recipients, the statement read.

The order was executed under the direct supervision of  Chairman of KVIC V Saxena.

The handspun ties and stoles were specially designed by KVIC as per specifications provided by the CBI.

The two-day international conference was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 18. Modi has himself given a call to promote Khadi and urged the public to buy at least a set of the handloom product.
