'CBI is now Conspiracy Bureau of Investigation'

Modi ‘Babu’ had toted up a new appellation to what was earlier called Central Bureau of Investigation, Mamata Banerjee said on Monday mounting a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Apparently jittery over reports that arrested TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhyay had just begun to spill the beans before the CBI the Bengal Chief Minister said under the Modi Government CBI had been transformed into “Conspiracy Bureau of Investigation.”

Using a Government platform at Burdwan, Banerjee told her audience who had come to attend the State sponsored Maa Maati Utsav, “meaning of CBI has changed under Modi Babu’s Government. They have made it Conspiracy Bureau of Investigation,” adding that “the Centre under Modi is trying to decimate the Opposition.”

The Chief Minister thundered, “I have seen a number of Governments up there but not a single one like this. This is the most vindictive Government I have ever seen. They are trying to finish and decimate voices of the Opposition that is questioning their anti-people moves.”

Starting on the “hardships caused by the demonetisation” and quickly moving to the arrests of Sudip Bandopadhyay and his lok Sabha colleague Tapas Paul the Chief Minister said, “CBI is bringing all kind of false allegations against Sudip Bandopadhyay. But no allegation is backed by any document. This is because Modi Babu wants to keep Sudipda in his custody. This is the reason why he has taken him to Odisha. But let them take him to Odisha, UP, MP or wherever they want. They will continue to face our protests because whole India is our country.”

Banerjee who had earlier predicted that the CBI might arrest a number of Trinamool leaders including Firhad Hakim, Subhendu Adhikary, her own nephew and MP Abhishek Banerjee, and Kolkata Mayor and Minister Sovan Chatterjee said “let them make new jails and put all of us in them but still we will continue to fight against Modi’s anti-people policies.”

Bandopadhyay was arrested by the CBI for his alleged connection in the multi-crore Rose valley chit fund scam. Banerjee’s statements came amid reports that the CBI had found enough evidence to link Bandopadhyay in the Sharada chit fund scam too and that many of Trinamool leaders and Bengali film stars close to the State ruling outfit were involved in the chit fund scam.

Attacking the Centre for demonetization Banerjee said “in the past two months after Modi Babu introduced demonetization we have suffered a revenue loss of Rs 5,500 crore. The big question before my government at this stage is how to pay salaries to our employees. Former CPI(M) Government had virtually ruined Bengal’s economy. Now this demonetization.
