CBI grills Microsoft executives in probe against Kejriwal's Principal Secy

The CBI has questioned two Microsoft executives in connection with its ongoing probe into the corruption case relating to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar.

The agency questioned Microsoft executives Saurabh Malhotra and Karan Bajwa on Monday and Tuesday. The questioning of the duo lasted over eight hours on both days, agency sources said.

The sources said the agency is likely to grill some executives of Ernst and Young soon.

The questioning comes after the agency scanned the call detail record of Kumar which reflected calls to the executives of these two firms. The two firms have awarded certain contracts to Endeavour Systems Pvt ltd, a firm accused in the case along with Kumar.

The agency is seeking to gather evidence if Kumar had abused his official position to get contracts awarded to Endeavour Systems. During the questioning the sleuths are learnt to have asked questions on the kind of relationship they shared with Kumar.

Kumar is accused of abusing his official position to get contracts awarded to ICSIl through public sector undertaking Intelligent Communication Systems India ltd.

Meanwhile, the agency got a big boost on Wednesday with the Delhi High Court quashed a trial court order directing CBI to return documents seized during raids at Kumar’s office on December 15, 2015, saying it contained self-contradictory reasons.

A bench of Justice P S Teji, while allowing the appeal of CBI, said that the trial court exceeded in its jurisdiction and the order had self-contradictory reasons.

“The appeal is allowed. The trial court order stands quashed,” the bench said.

The CBI had challenged the trial court order directing it to submit the seized documents to the Delhi Government.

CBI had raided office of Kumar on December 15, last year after registering a corruption case against him and others alleging that he had abused his official position by “favouring a particular firm in the last few years in getting tenders from a Delhi Government department”.
