The CBI on Monday questioned suspended Noida engineer Yadav Singh in connection with two separate cases of corruption and possession of disproportionate assets.

Singh arrived at the agency headquarters on Monday afternoon after which he was grilled by the probe team for about five hours. The sleuths quizzed Singh on the projects handled by him, sources of funds for acquisition of alleged disproportionate assets and his connections in the Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy and was also confronted with related documents seized during the searches conducted at his house besides those of his associates and family members, sources said.

Yadav will be questioned again after the agency receives documents from the Income Tax Department relating to an ongoing tax evasion case against him. The CBI has requested the I-T Department to furnish the documents related to the case against Singh.

The agency had earlier registered two separate cases against Singh, his family members and associates for alleged corruption and amassing assets disproportionate to the known sources of income.

The disproportionate assets case against Singh and others was registered under IPC Section relating to criminal conspiracy (120-B) and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act. In this case, the agency has also named his wife Kusum lata, daughter Garima Bhushan, and son Sunny Yadav besides an associate Rajender Minocha for amassing disproportionate assets.

The alleged disproportionate assets were discovered during searches by Income Tax department in November,

2014 in which several incriminating documents and the Income Tax Returns were recovered from a number of his premises.

Scrutiny of Income Tax Returns and other connecting records by the CBI have revealed that during the period 2009-2014, the total likely savings of the family of Singh was about Rs 1.70 crore, but they were in possession of immovable property worth over Rs 3.60 crore. Besides, an amount of Rs 10 crore recovered from one of his associates also allegedly belonged to Singh.

The second case relates to allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act against Singh.
