The Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate coming out of their alleged hibernation launched on Tuesday fresh spells of investigations into the multi-crore ponzi fund cases issuing summons to the first investigating officer who probed the Sharada chit fund case way back in 2013.

Debarata Bandopadhyay, who was the first IO in the Sharada case, has been asked  to report at the CGO complex at Salt lake, CBI sources said adding he had been summoned twice earlier but failed to show up citing various excuses.

The IO is likely to be asked questions on how the investigations proceeded in the initial days and where the certain seized items that the central agency was looking for were.

According to sources, the CBI had already brought to the notice of the Supreme Court the alleged non-cooperation by certain senior IPS officers who were earlier in charge of the case.

“The CBI is looking for a red diary, some electronic data and some vital other evidences which are with the State police,” sources said adding despite repeated reminders the State Police was not sharing the information it had in the Sharada case. Apart from the summons issued by the CBI the Enforcement Directorate also conducted simultaneous raids at six specific locations in Kolkata and Howrah.

Sources said a team of 40-45 ED officials raided premises owned by the Rose Valley another ponzi company allegedly involved in a Rs 28,000 crore scam.
