Trinamool Congress’ never-ending encounter with the CBI-ED tended to continue with senior leaders like Mukul Roy and Suvendu Adhikary being grilled on Monday for their alleged involvement in the Narada payoff case.
While Roy, a former Railway Minister and Rajya Sabha MP, is still the party’s vice president, Adhikary a former MP and currently a State Minister was Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Nandigram spearhead between 2007 and 2011.
Roy deposed before the CBI at Nizam Palace and Adhikary who had earlier failed to respond to the summons was quizzed by the ED at the CGO Complex. Though, there was no reaction from the two leaders sources close to them said they would cooperate with the central agencies.
A sting operation conducted by Narada News purportedly showed a dozen of Trinamool leaders accepting cash from a sting journalist who posed as a prospective investor in the State.
Before Monday’s interrogation a host of TMC MPs and Ministers like Saugato Roy, Prasun Banerjee, Aparupa Poddar and Subroto Mukherjee, Sovan Chatterjee were grilled by the CBI in the past week.
