The Special CBI Court on Monday issued summons to the six accused in Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. The court ordered the accused including DG Vanzara, Gl Singhal, Tarun Barot, JG Parmar, NK Amin and Anaju Chaudhary to remain present before the court on July 15 to collect their copies of chargesheet.
On July 3, CBI had submitted summary of chargesheet. On Monday the investigation agency submitted full chargesheet before the court. However, at the time of submission the six accused were absent.
When their advocates demanded copy of chargesheet, the court refused and said that the accused were required to collect their copies personally. As the seventh accused is declared absconding, the court has not called him to remain present.
In the chargesheet CBI termed the killing of Ishrat Jahan and three others “fake encounter” and charged seven Gujarat cops with murder, criminal conspiracy, illegal confinement and destruction of evidence under various Sections of the Arms Act.
The chargesheet stated that the 19-year-old college girl Ishrat and three others — Javed Sheikh alias Pranesh Pillai, Amjad Ali Rana and Zeeshan Johar were abducted and then killed in a staged encounter by officers and men of the Ahmedabad Crime branch.
