CBI court grants Jagan permission to go abroad

Published on:

A CBI special court in Hyderabad on Wednesday granted permission to YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy to go abroad, overruling the objections of the Central Bureau of Investigation. Jagan, who is the main accused in cases of corruption, fraud and misuse of political influence, had applied to the court to order the return his seized passport as he intended to visit Jerusalem, France and Britain in the month of June or July. The court imposed the condition that wherever he goes Jagan should provide his contact details to the CBI.

The CBI, which was investigating the cases against Jagan, had strongly opposed his plea pointing out the enormity of charges against him, including accumulation of disproportionate assets worth several thousand crores. The counsel for prosecution told the court that the arguments are nearing completion in the case but Jagan is trying to delay the case on filmsy grounds.
