The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted a gang who planned to send 11 teenagers to the US on education visas, and booked them under the Human Trafficking Act.
The members of the gang were based in Delhi and Punjab. The CBI is working to determine whether the racket is linked to another which it busted in December, when three people were booked on charges that they sent 25 teenage students, aged between 13-18 years, to France in 2016 for “a rugby training camp”.
The agency registered a case against lalit David Dean, Sanjeev Raj and Varun Choudhary, who collected Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh from parents.
The CBI came to know about the racket when French investigators caught one of the trafficked boys and approached Interpol.
It discovered that three Delhi and Faridabad-based agents held a small training session to convince the parents. Visas were issued after the agents procured an invitation from France. The investigation in this case is still under way.
