The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a Preliminary Enquiry (PE) against Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra for alleged misuse of Rs 35 lakh of Hockey India funds.
The move to initiate a PE follows a complaint against Batra being received by the CBI.A preliminary enquiry is the first step to establish prima facie criminality in the complaint and gather basic evidence to sustain a Regular Case (RC) of First Information Report (FIR), officials said.
Once material evidence is gathered to substantiate the allegations in the complaint, the CBI is likely to register a Regular Case against the suspects, they further said.
