The CBI on Sunday arrested seven more people in connection with the post-poll violence related cases in West Bengal, taking the number of those arrested in these cases to 11. “The CBI has arrested 11 accused (seven on 12.09.2021 and four on 11.09.2021) in ongoing investigation of two separate cases related to violence and other offences in West Bengal,” the CBI said in a statement on Sunday.

The CBI had registered these cases following express orders of Calcutta High Court and took over the investigation of the cases earlier registered by the State Police.

The CBI has so far registered 31 cases related to the post-poll violence in West Bengal after the Assembly election results were declared on May 2. The cases relate to offences like murder, rape and grievous injuries to Opposition sympathisers and workers.
