Carvan-e-Aman peace bus service resumes

After a gap of almost four long months when Carvan-e-Aman peace bus on Monday resumed its services not a single passenger from India boarded the bus at Chakan-da-bagh transit point to visit Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) via Rawlakote.

An empty bus crossed the line of control while 20 fresh passengers from POK arrived here to meet their loved ones.

The bus service was earlier suspended on July 10 in the wake of escalation of hostilities between armies of India and Pakistan along the line of control in the region.

Pak army had even succeeded in targeting administrative block of the trade centre at Chakan-da-bagh.

Along with peace bus even trade along the route also remained suspended.

No goods were traded between the businessmen during the same period.

Custodian of loC Trade centre Mohd Tanver Ahmad said, "the peace bus services was resumed following dialogue between the two sides".

He said only 20 POK residents arrived here via peace bus while an empty bus crossed the line of control as none of the passengers turned up at the transit point to board the bus.
