The Centre told the Supreme Court on Friday that a decision on formation of Government in Delhi will be taken shortly.
Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar who appeared for Centre told a Constitution bench of the Supreme Court that following the letter of the Delhi-lieutenant Governor to the President suggesting the BJP to form the Government in Delhi, the Centre is preparing its response to be given to President in this regard.
The Bench headed by CJI Hl Dattu said, “This was pointed out to us even on the last occasion.” It was then Kumar said, “It may be decided soon. Post-Diwali we will inform the Court of our decision.” The Court posted the petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party on October 28 where it has challenged the l-G’s decision to keep the Assembly in suspended animation without dissolving the House as no party had positive mandate to form the Government.
The l-G on September 4 wrote to the President seeking his response on inviting single-largest party BJP for Government formation. The court asked the Centre to apprise it of its decision in this regard saying “alleged horse-trading” will continue if a decision is not taken.
