With corona infections witnessing a sharp rise infecting a number of senior judicial officers the Calcutta High Court on Friday gave a conditional permission to organize the Ganga Sagar Mela directing the State Government to strictly follow the guidelines putting the Government under the tight scanner of a three-member committee constituting Bengal Opposition Leader, representative of the HumanRights Commission and the State Chief Secretary.
The Committee thus constituted will inspect the preparations and measures taken by the Government, petitioners' advocates said.
Besides, the State Home Secretary was also directed to run advertisements in various media asking people to refrain from coming to the grand Fare at the confluence of Ganges and sea.
