Unable to cope up with the pressure of studies, a 22-year-old chartered accountancy student committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area on Tuesday, police said.

The deceased, Vishwajit Saha, a native of West Bengal, left a suicide note citing his slow and poor progress in studies as the reason for this extreme step. He lived alone in a rented flat at C-Block in Gurunanakpura at Shakarpur.

The suicide came to light at around 11 am when his friends went to his house but Saha did not open the door, they peeped into the flat and found his body hanging from a ceiling fan, said a police officer. Police reached the spot and broke the door open and the body was sent for post- mortem. “He wrote that he was depressed as he was not doing well academically. He was unable to take the load of the studies,” said a police officer.
