It seems Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is aiming to set Gujarat as model State when it comes to successful implementation of campaign strategies. Modi’s winning formula is working successfully as Gujarat BJP registered another thumping victory on Tuesday in the by-elections to municipalities.
These days the BJP’s new Campaign Committee chief Modi is not giving single chance to his detractors within the party as well as rival parties by wining one after another by-elections that too at different levels of democratic systems in his home State.
As general elections are coming closer, Modi himself is setting an example for other party leaders to follow his success model. In just eight months span under Modi’s leadership, the Gujarat BJP not only won Assembly elections but also made the saffron party’s domination even stronger by winning lok Sabha, Assembly and panchayat by-polls with thumping majority.
“Of the 10 municipality seats by-election, the BJP won eight seats. Earlier, the Congress was having six and the BJP had four. But after the bypoll, the BJP snatched four seats from the Congress and restricted with just two seats,” said IK Jadeja, State BJP spokesperson.
In the first week of July, the BJP won 15 seats out of 22 in panchayat bypolls. In that election also the Congress was reduced from 17 seats to just seven. In June, the BJP pocketed all six seats in a by-election of four Assembly and two lok Sabha seats all previously with the Congress. December of 2012 made Modi first Chief Minister of Gujarat to register hat-trick by winning three consecutive elections.
Sources said these smaller victories would have great impact during upcoming lok Sabha elections slated for mid-2014. Gujarat is having 26 lok Sabha seats, of which the BJP has 17 and nine with the Congress.
