By 2020, India will not be dependent on coal imports as it would be producing enough at home itself, said Dr PK Singh, Director of the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR), a lab under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
The Union Coal Ministry has nominated CSIR-CIMFR to take up the job of coal quality monitoring at national level for the entire power sector to ascertain the coal quality.
