Buddha lambasts TMC for reign of terror in Bengal

After maintaining a lengthy silence, the Opposition left Front on Friday opened its mouth coming down heavily on the Trinamool Congress Government for letting loose a reign of terror in Bengal and failing to take a stance against the various measures like railway fare hike being taken by the Centre.

Speaking at the end of a three-day sit-in demonstration in Kolkata, former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool for mounting attacks on the left workers throughout the State.“Hundreds of our workers have been killed in the past three years and thousands have been forced to leave their villages and the police isn’t taking any action,” said Bhattacharjee adding the “situation today resembles the dark days of the 1970s.”

Wondering as to what the TMC was doing against the “new Government’s anti-people policies which have contributed to spiraling prices though they have sent 34 MPs to the lok Sabha,” he asked, “what the batch of film stars who have been elected this time round will understand the plight of the common man on account of rising pricesIJ”

He said, “The people who are stinking rich can neither realise the hardships faced by the common man nor they will raise their voies in Parliament” adding the “left is the only hope for the poor struggling common man.”

Reminding how the left Front with its 60 MPs had prevented the UPA-I from taking anti-people measures he said the “Red flag will continue to fight against neo-imperialist forces and their agents in India.”
