In the run up to the first phase of lok Sabha polls, the political landscape is getting colourful in Jammu & Kashmir.
Adding to the long list of party flags fluttering atop commercial establishments the BSP on Tuesday kick-started its campaign on a high note in the presence of party supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.
On her arrival in the city of temples, Mayawati was given blue carpet welcome as the entire venue of the public rally was painted in blue.
Huge billboards of BR Ambedkar, Kanshi Ram and Mayawati greeted party supporters from all corners.
After a rapturous welcome Mayawati did some straight talking and targeted BJP’s PM nominee Narendra Modi amid loud cheer from the crowd.
Without naming him, Mayawati urged the voters not to hand over the power baton in his hands as the state of Gujarat had earlier witnessed riots under his rule in 2002. “It is not wise enough to elect such a leader for the top post. The country may once again witness riots. We have to stop him at all cost”,said Mayawati.
In her half an hour long speech Mayawati trained her guns on the misrule and poor governance of the Congress party in the centre. The congress has launched its ‘yuvraj’ in the poll arena without announcing its Prime Ministerial candidate. She said, congress party has failed on all fronts and must be voted out in the coming lok Sabha polls.
