BSP flags MSY-Modi closeness

BSP smells politics in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to attend Tilak ceremony of Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav’s grand nephew saying “this shows closeness between the SP and BJP.”

“Modi’s proposed visit to Saifai is a proof of old bonhomie between the SP and BJP. We have been saying this for last many years that there is a tacit understanding between Yadav and senior BJP leaders. With Modi attending the Tilak ceremony with senior BJP leaders in tow proves this correct,” BSP’s national general secretary Swami Prasad Maurya told reporters here on Thursday.

Maurya said recently the SP supremo had also attended the marriage ceremony of senior BJP leader Amit Shah’s son, in Ahmedabad. It is reported that Shah is likely to attend the Tilak ceremony too. “With this development our allegation of nexus between the two parties stands vindicated,” he said.

Reacting to Maurya’s allegations, the BJP said BSP leadership was frustrated and therefore such charges have been leveled. It is custom among political leaders of different hue to attend functions in each others’ families. “We may have political differences with SP. But this does not mean we are enemies,” BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.

Yadav’s grand nephew Tej Pratap and RJD leader lalu Prasad’s youngest daughter Raj laxmi are getting married in New Delhi on February 26. The Tilak ceremony will take place in Saifai, the native place of Yadavs. Over 1.25 lakh people are expected to attend the Tilak.

Several VVIPs including Modi, UP Governor Ram Naik, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra and filmstar Amitabh Bachchan’s family are slated to attend the Tilak ceremony.
