Hours after BSF officers attended a commandant level flag meeting with their Pakistani counterparts in Ramgarh sector of Samba in Jammu frontier, BSF jawans late on Monday evening foiled an infiltration bid by a group of four infiltrators in the area.
To confuse BSF jawans deployed along the International border Pak rangers had also fired two sniper shots targeting BSF jawans at the Kandral border post around 6.10 p.m
In response, the BSF jawans also opened fire to prevent armed infiltrators from sneaking inside the Indian territory.
"Our jawans fired some shots in response following which the four infiltrators retracted inside the Pakistani territory", official sources said.
According to ground reports, after noticing suspected movement of infiltrators along the International border the local BSF commander had alerted all the sentry positions to foil any infiltration bid.
According to intelligence reports, "large number of infiltrators in small groups have been brought closer to the International border to push them inside the Indian borders by the terrorist handlers".
Meanwhile, the entire border belt is already kept in a State of high alert following regular movement of suspected infiltrators close to the International border across Jammu frontier.
