MUMBAI: Police conducted security checks across Mumbai on Friday, October 6, after receiving a mail claiming that explosives had been planted at several prominent city locations, including the Bombay High Court, the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, and actor Amitabh Bachchan’s residence, 'Jalsa'.

Specialised units from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, alongside local police teams, inspected each of the mentioned sites. Officials later confirmed that the anti-sabotage operations found no hazardous materials or suspicious objects, concluding that the message was a hoax. The cyber crime department has launched an inquiry to trace the sender's identity through their digital communications and IP address.

The incident is the second security alert connected to the veteran actor in recent weeks. On October 23, an email sent to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi warned of potential attacks targeting an educational institution, Bachchan’s home in Juhu between October 31 and November 27, and a scheduled concert by singer Diljit Dosanjh at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse.

Following the warnings, security protocols around the actor’s residence were strengthened, with Bachchan recently seen acknowledging members of the public from behind a protective transparent glass barrier installed outside his bungalow.

In Nagpur, judicial complexes have faced at least four similar bomb threats since December 2025, alongside a synchronized wave of threatening messages sent to 16 schools in August 2026. An email was sent last December warning that explosives would be detonated by 2:00 PM at both the district and sessions court and the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court, as well as an April 22, 2025 threat issued under the name 'Madras Tiger' targeting the High Court premises.

The bomb theretas in Mumbai comes as a recurring pattern of digital hoaxex, sending the judges, lawyers, parents, children and common citizend to panic with wasted working hours of the court.
