The body of a student who had drowned in the Ganga on Saturday could be fished out from the Ganga Kachhar under the Cantonment police station here on Monday. The body has been sent for the post-mortem. His family members have been informed and they identified the boy as Rudra.
Rudra (14) lived in Ganganagar Newada under the Shivkuti police station. Rudra, son of Kotal Singh, had gone to bathe in the river with his friends on Saturday. He accidentally slipped into deep water and drowned. His friends could not gather the courage of informing his parents and returned home quietly.
When Rudra did not return home till late in the evening, his family members launched a massive search for him. They came to know that Rudra had gone for bathing in the Ganga with his friends. When the friends were traced they revealed that Rudra was swept away by the river current. The police were informed immediately and efforts were made to trace Rudra from the river bed, but to no avail. On Monday all of a sudden a body was seen floating in Cantonment Arail, taken out and was of Rudra.
FIR LODGED: In an FIR lodged against her husband and some others at the Cantonment police station a woman alleged that Mohammad Alam married her by hiding his religion and later he and his brothers gang-raped her. An attempt was made to kill her, but she survived the attack, she alleged. She complained that her husband broke open the lock to grab ornaments worth Rs 70,000, Rs 35,000 cash and an iPhone. The Cantonment police registered an FIR and are investigating the case.
Alam had earlier lodged a complaint with the police that his wife had cheated him. She allegedly had built undue pressure on him and had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not marry her. She has grabbed lakhs of rupees and now telling concocted stories to the police to save her skin, he alleged.
The Cantonment inspector, however, is investigating the case considering both the FIRs.
The woman who belonged to Ballia lives in a rented house in Cantonment area. She alleged that Alam misled her regarding his religion while marrying her. He and his brothers raped her. She had lodged an FIR with the police.
Later he took her to Kokhraj in Kaushambi where she had been allegedly shot at, but luckily she did not die. Brother of her husband, Noor Alam is in jail in this connection.
The husband told the police that the woman had once lodged a rape case against one Deepak Pal at the Civil Lines police station.
