Sending a stern message to its cadres that it would not brook negligence on their part, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday evening suspended seven officers belonging to the Planning & Architecture and Market departments, pending two seperate technical and administrative inquiries into Friday’s Dockyard Road building collapse.
The seven officers, whom the BMC suspended, were among the 18 officers against whom the BMC ordered a high-level probe in the wake of the collapse of the BMC-owned building near the Dockyard Road railway station in south Mumbai on Friday morning.
The officers against whom the action was initiated, were mainly engineers belonging to the Planning & Architecture department and senior officers belonging to the Market department.
