B'luru bride walks for kms to border to reach TN

Amid the Cauvery turbulence, a 25-year-old bride-to-be braved her way to Karnataka border in an attempt to reach Vaniyambadi in neighbouring Tamil Nadu by walking several kilometres in the absence of a public transport system.

R Prema, a citizen of Bengaluru, is getting married on Wednesday to a man living in Tamil Nadu.

“I am coming from Bengaluru. We walked several kilometres before reaching Hosur. We faced a lot of problems. Since we did not have transport facilities, we came by bus and an auto,” Prema said.

Prema said she has lost the joy of getting married to some extent as she had invited about 600 people for her marriage, but only 20 people were coming for the event.

Prema had a word of wisdom for people who were fomenting violence. “We must all understand that people in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are both facing problems. Violence is not the right way to solve this water sharing issue,” she said.
