The sensational killing took place late Saturday night and the local police rushed to the spot along with senior officers to defuse the tension in the area.

According to reports, former district vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Amresh Tripathi (35), who lived in Rajendra Nagar locality of Pukhrayan town, was having an old dispute with some people of Pal community over the land of a trust in Pukhrayan under Bhognipur police station of Kanpur Dehat. The dispute took a violent turn late Saturday night when the two parties had a heated exchange of words over the issue. Reports said that one of the groups brutally attacked Tripathi with sticks and rods leading to his death.
