Ahead of the election of new party president and revamping of the organisation, BJP’s National cells which include those on external affairs, human rights, intellectual, investor protection, North-East Sampark, RTI, artisan, cow protection, sports and naturopathy cells, would hold their meeting to review and assess their performance and effectiveness.
Though the meeting is an attempt to revitalize the cells, some of the conveners of the cells feel that in view of the pending decision on a new party chief who may appoint afresh office bearers as well as heads of cells and morchas, the deliberations “may not be as substantial”.
Mahendra Kumar is the coordinator of the BJP’s cells and Morchas. All the convenors of the cells are unlikely to attend the meeting, sources said. There are over 30 cells in the BJP with Election, media, intellectual and IT cell being more visible and prominent.
Besides, there is Training Cell, Panchayat Raj Cell,Urban local Bodies Cell,Art and Culture Cell, Industry Cell, Micro and Small Industry Cell, Investor Protection Cell, Sports Cell, Ex-servicemen Cell, Medical Cell,Sr. Citizen Cell, North-East India Samparak Cell, Cow Development Cell, Fishermen’s Cell, Non-Conventional Energy Cell, CA Cell, External Affairs Cell, literature & Publication Cell,Artisan Cell,RTI Cell,Naturopathy Cell, Samvad Cell, Economic Activity, Good Governance Cell, Ganga Cell, Security Cell, Nepal Samparak Cell, Human Rights Cell, Technocrat cell and Energy Cell.
While appointment of new party president is awaited this moth, Sunil Bansal has been put in-charge as General Secretary (organisation) in UP. Bansal has been one of the four key figures who had worked closely with the National General Secretary Amit Shah during the lok Sabha poll in the State where party won 71 of the total 80 seats.
Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections slated by October, BJP president last week held a meeting of its State unit to get their view on continuing alliance with Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) which failed to win any seat in the lok Sabha polls. Party in-charge Dr Jagdish Mukhi said “no firm view has been taken on the issue.”
A decision on HJC will be taken by the party’s Parliamentary Board. The party decided to start holding booth-level meetings of its workers in Haryana with immediate effect to galvanize workers for the coming elections in the State.
