In a bid to ensure victory in constituencies previously considered weak or lost during the 2019 elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will `virtually' address BJP workers across 10 lakh booths nationwide on June 27. The Central BJP leadership has directed the Ministers and MPs to visit their assigned Lok Sabha constituencies.
Modi will be present in Bhopal to address BJP workers digitally, engaging in a dialogue with them. The event is expected to witness the participation of over 2,500 BJP leaders from various States. Madhya Pradesh (MP), currently under BJP rule, faces a tough electoral challenge from the Congress as Assembly polls approach later this year.
While the BJP secured a record 303 Lok Sabha seats in 2019, the party remains committed to addressing the 144 seats it lost during that time. High-ranking BJP officials, including party president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have been consistently reviewing the progress in these 'weak seats' since last year. Many of these seats are concentrated in southern States, with a few in Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Bihar.
In a strategic move, the BJP has assigned seven Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh (UP) to two senior leaders from Rajasthan, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Satish Poonia, the former State president and current deputy-Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly.
Raje has been entrusted with the Giridih, Dumka, Godda, and Koderma Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, while Poonia has been made joint in-charge of Mainpuri, Amreha, and Moradabad seats in UP. Both leaders submitted reports to the party's central leadership, suggesting strategies to secure victory in these seats.
Earlier this month, BJP General Secretary (org) B.L. Santosh and Raje held a meeting to discuss the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Rajasthan, where the Assembly election is scheduled for later this year, holds significance in the party's overall electoral strategy.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has been entrusted with the responsibility of Rae Bareli, the Lok Sabha constituency of Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi. He has also been assigned the responsibilities of Ambedkarnagar, Shravasti, and Mau in MP.
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has been assigned the task of overseeing Saharanpur, Nagina, and Bijnor in UP, while Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh will be responsible for Mainpuri, the Lok Sabha constituency of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav. Singh will also oversee Moradabad, Amroha, and Sambhal.
Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi has been given the responsibility of Jaunpur, Ghazipur, and Lalganj.
With Modi's virtual address and the involvement of Ministers and senior leaders, the BJP aims to consolidate its position and ensure success in the upcoming elections.
