BJP warns Bihar Govt servants over campaigning with JD(U)

Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi has warned the Bihar Government officials not to become part of the JD(U)’s publicity at the cost of the State Exchequer or they will have to face a probe.

Modi said crores were being spent on the ruling party’s publicity and campaign against the Central Government’s special package through advertisements released by the information and public relations department. He said the Badh Chala Bihar campaign was stopped during the code of conduct in July due to legislative council election and later on the Patna High Court had put restrictions on it. As a result, the campaign which was planned to be taken to 40,000 villages, could reach hardly 5,000 villages. But now the district public relation officers were being pressurised to certify the false bills in order to make crores of rupees to an agency — Citizens’ Alliance — which is being run by Prashant Kishor who is spearheading the JD(U)’s election campaign.

“I warn the officials not to do any such thing under pressure from CM Nitish Kumar which may lead to trouble for them in future. Post polls, the NDA Government will be formed and all the irregularities in this context would be thoroughly probed,” said Modi in a statement on Monday.

Modi said for preparing the Vision Document-2025, it had been planned to send 400 GPS fitted vehicles with lED screens and audio and video systems to 40,000 villages. For each meeting, the agency was supposed to be paid `2,833. Many more programmes had also been scheduled inside and out of State which did not happen, he added. The BJP leader also pointed out the publication of advertisement against Centre was violation of Bihar Government Servant Conduct Rules, 1976.
